John Bennett (various) mahogany c1895 fluted 'tulip' leg, scroll brackets

Ref - various

A typical example of a handsome Victorian hand-carved 'tulip' style of leg which became very popular from c1880-c1920. Good quality timber was in plentiful supply around those times so that most tables were very well constructed of fine timber. This particular table has a medium size leg of elegant proportions and has the hand-carved scroll brackets under the framework, and turned timber stoppers concealing the cushion bolts. We have several tables of this style available, with earlier examples tending to have a slimmer leg style and the later Victorian examples being much more bulbous.

Guide price (this table) £9,000
